A utility is an electricity generating company which is generally intended to be the operator and/or owner of the facility.
European Utilities, who are not members of the EUR Organisation, can first join the EUR Organisation as EUR Associate Members and subsequently as a EUR Full Member.
The distribution rules of EUR Document (Volumes 1, 2 and 4) applicable to an EUR Associate Member, who is contributing in kind or in budget to the achievement of the EUR activities are the following:
- Full Rights of use for its own internal use,
- Rights of use for any other application, after EUR Steering Committee approval
Non-European Utilities wanting to join EUR Organisation can now apply for the status of « Observer member ».
The distribution rules applicable to an EUR Observer Member, who is contributing to specific EUR activities through an entrance fee and annual fees are the following:
- Full Rights of use for its own internal use,
- Rights of use for any other application, after EUR Steering Committee approval.
Utilities not willing to join the EUR Organisation will not be allowed to use the EUR Specification Documents (Volumes 1, 2 and 4) in support of their activities without payment.
These Utilities will have to request for access to the EUR Specification Documents (Volumes 1, 2 and 4) under the “Profit Making Organisation” arrangements.
